Happy Hangover!

So I am finally getting around to scrapping some photos of my newest niece, who was born in May. These pictures were taken at the hospital the day she was born.

I know black is an unusual choice for a baby layout, but I liked the way the pastel colors looked against it, so, there you go!

I used Unity's "Love Grows" set for this layout, and if you look closely, you can see that I stamped right on the lace in the bottom corner! I thought this was the perfect set for a growing family, and it also made the perfect page title!

Not-My-Style Scrapping

This layout is SO not my usual scrapping style! Kinda scenery-paper piecing. But, I saw a page in July 09 Creating Keepsakes magazine that I liked and decided to give it a try. The glitter glue was my addition, I just love it! Studio G makes some that is much cheaper than Stickles, although the product comes out a little thicker.

ink: black (Inkadinkado)

other: CM 12" pattern for cutting system (it's new, love it!), foam adhesive, glitter glue (Studio G), letter stickers (unk)

Altered fencepost

I think this is finished. Maybe it needs something at the top? Anyway, this little wall hanging started life as a fencepost. After cutting off the top and sanding it down, I painted it with gray and white acrylic paint. The background paper is from an old dictionary, if you look close the definition for "twinkle" is at the top! I stamped Print Pattern in VersaMark and embossed with UTEE, then went over the whole thing with Peeled Paint distress ink. It is adhered with Modge Podge. The sentiment (from Unity) was stamped in Going Gray on a scrap. I hand-cut the stars from chipboard (ok, a cereal box!) and embossed them with silver EP. Very shiny in real life, a nice contrast to the otherwise weathered look, I think. The star at the bottom is popped up with foam adhesive. Some garage-sale ribbon, and done! Fountain Fun

We always have such a great time when we visit my in-laws in Marietta, Oh. It is such a cute, historical little town. When we visited in May, we spent one afternoon just walking around downtown, along the river and shops. Of course, my girls and their cousin had to take a break and splash in the fountain!

I used my ProvoCraft Silent Setter to punch the holes, and backed it with scraps. I love this tool because you get three different sizes of hole punches and eyelet setters! I had been wanting to try this technique for a while, and finally saw a layout in June/July 09 ScrapbooksEtc magazine that inspired me.

Just a little peek at a project I'm working on. Can you guess what it is? It's a... fencepost!

I am going to layer it up with some paint and paper, and I think I'm going to turn it into a little wall hanging with an inspirational quote or something. I have a few more of these in the backyard, so maybe I'll do a series!

Yard Sale Treasures

This past Saturday morning was beautiful, so the family and I went out yard-saleing. Is that a verb? Anyway, I snatched up this cute Coke crate for $1!! Amazing! I love the weathered look of the paint, and the metal reinforcement strips along the sides.

At the same sale, I found this little glass honey bottle for 10 cents.

The girls found three new (to them) Disney movies and a train set. I can't believe my oldest kid is 61/2 and we've never owned a train before. Well, can't beat $5 for a box FULL of tracks, signs, trees, etc.

The only one who missed out was Justin, poor guy! Oh, he did see a couch for $20, but I vetoed that since it was ugly and had a hole in it! Him: But it's only 20 dollars!!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my treasures just yet. If you have any creative ideas, let me know!
